I am writing C# .Net (Core) scripts for data collection and processing using this tablet has become my server. Most of the data sources are just plain text CSV, XML or JSON files that take up very little space.

  • Loaded up MySQL Community Server 8 on a 64GB Micro SD card as my D drive.
  • On the same Micro SD card, created a scripts directory and turned them into scheduled tasks.
  • Using the Micro SD card allows me to easily upgrade to more space. Just copy contents over to a new larger Micro CD and done.

Don’t be afraid to use that old hardware.
